Movies about cars do not (necessarily) rely on the ‘traditional script’ to portray the story to the viewer. Why? Amphetamine-popping Kowalski (Barry Newman) attempts to drive a race car from Denver to San Francisco in order to win a bet. As the police become informed of his crazy endeavor, Kowalski struggles to avoid the cops with the help of a blind radio disco jockey who calls himself Super Soul (Cleavon Little).

9.) Love the Beast, 2009

A documentary concerning the thespian’s deep-seated love of Eric Bana’s classic sports car. Nicknamed “The Beast,” the vehicle in question is a Ford GT Falcon Coupe that Bana received secondhand from his father and has rebuilt on multiple occasions. The film explores Bana’s ongoing, 25-year+ love affair with the auto, finds him discussing the nature of this relationship with celebrity psychoanalyst Dr. Phil McGraw, and documents racing in the famous 5-day Targa Tasmania Rally.

Senator Walter Chalmers (Robert Vaughn) is aiming to take down mob boss Pete Ross (Vic Tayback) with the help of testimony from the criminal’s hothead brother Johnny (Pat Renella), who is in protective custody in San Francisco under the watch of police lieutenant Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen). When a pair of mob hitmen enter the scene, Bullitt follows their trail through a maze of complications and double-crosses. This thriller includes one of the most famous car chases ever filmed.

Kurt Russell stars as an engine-revving psychopath who prefers to take out his beautiful victims at 200 mph. Death Proof finds a group of ladies out on the town pitted against a mysterious figured named Stuntman Mike (Russell), whose vintage automobile has been partially modified to withstand even the most extreme auto collision.
